Elaine Margaret Fossey Lockwood, 67, died Monday, March 28, 2011.

She was born June 25, 1943, in Great Bend, the daughter of Charles and Blanche Reed Fossey. Her adoptive parents were Francis and Helen Reed.

She had been a Hutchinson resident since 1965, moving from McPherson. Elaine was a 1961 graduate of Little River High School, a 1979 graduate of Wichita State University and a member of the American Dental Association. She was a dental hygienist for several area dentists, including Michael Yowell, DDS. Elaine also spent many years passionately serving the dental needs of USD 308 students. Most recently, she rendered care to patients at Prairie Star, Hutchinson.

On March 16, 1965, she married Danny R. Lockwood in Little River. He died Feb. 16, 2001.

She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Matt and Debbie of Shawnee, Brad and Ann of McPherson, and Cary of Arlington, Texas; three brothers and a sister, Max and Janet Fossey of Wichita, Norman and Sherry Reed of Bozeman, Mont., Winifred and Max Teeter of Halstead, and Dale and Maggie Reed of Liberal; seven grandchildren, Dalton Hartley, Danny Lockwood, Jacob Lockwood, William Lockwood, Jennifer Lockwood, Melissa Lockwood and Delaney Lockwood; and a great-granddaughter, Veronica Lockwood. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2011, at Westbrook Baptist Church, 2005 N. Hendricks, with Pastor Rod Sims officiating. Burial will be in the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Her casket will remain closed. Friends may sign her register book 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Elaine Lockwood "Tooth Fairy" Memorial Fund, to help area children in need of dental care, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.
