Martha S. Jass, the daughter of Ferdinand and Martha (Ziesmer) Boehnke, was born Dec. 24, 1905 on a farm north of Ventura. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church east of Garner and attended parochial school. On Feb. 24, 1926 she was married to Edward Jass at St. John's Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Ventura area for 44 years. They were the parents of a son, Vilrgil, who died in 1944 at the age of fifteen. After her husband's death in 1976, she continued to live in Ventura. Martha moved to Prairie View Apartments in Garner in 1997 and in 1999 became a resident of Concord Care Center in Garner.
