Lawrence Carl Boehnke, the son of Julius and Anna (Pueggle) Boehnke, was born April 27, 1910 in rural Ventura. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church. He attended St. John's Parochial School and was a graduate of Ventura High School, after which he farmed and showed films at open air movies in the north Iowa area. He served his country during WW II as a teleype operator in the signal Corps in campaigns in Italy, the Balkans and North Africa. After the war he came back to Iowa and farmed in partnership with his brother, Earl. October 14, 1951, he married Alitza Matuza at St. John's Lutheran Church. They continued to live on St. John's corner till Lawrence's death.
He is survived by his wife, Alitza; a sister, Mrs. Oscar (Elsie) Dressel; 2 brothers, Earl of Ventura and George of Edina, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Arnold.
