August W. Kelsch Sr., age 73 passed away on February 2, 2011. He was born in Suttons Bay on October 30, 1937, to the late Marvin and Beatrice (Lannin) Kelsch. On Dec. 3, 1958, he married Margaret L. Meyers in Denver, Colorado.
Gus was retired after 20 years of service from the United States Air Force where he served during the Vietnam War. After retiring he spent alot of his time with his family and being outdoors taking care of things he loved and enjoyed the most.
Gus is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret; five children, Debora, James, August Jr., Kathy, and Jeffrey Kelsch; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; four brothers, Peter, Robert, Jerry, and Ivan Kelsch along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny; four sisters, Esther Cunningham, Helen Merbs, Doris Wilcox, and Linda who died in infancy.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held at the Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel on Monday, February 7, 2011, with Military Honors during the service.
