Burt farmed in Scott Twp., Sandusky Co., and drove a wood wagon (see photo). Another photo not shown tells the story of the day Burt organized friends to plow the fields of a sick neighbor. More than 20 teams participated.
The following is from page 1 of the Feb. 2, 1922 Risingsun Unique Weekly:
OBITUARY, C. B. BAUMAN
"Charles Burton Bauman was born Feb. 24, 1876, near Fremont, Ohio, and departed this life at his home near Risingsun, Ohio Jan. 31, 1922, aged 45 years, 11 months and 7 days.
"On Sept. 14, 1895, he was united in marriage to Amanda Bonawit. To this union was born two sons and two daughters, Burton, Ernest, Vera and Zelma.
"When about 22 years of age he gave his heart to God and joined the United Brethren Church of Risingsun where he remained until about 14 years ago when he removed his membership to the Trinity Evangelical Church under the pastorate of Rev. J.W. Steffani, where he remained a faithful member until his death.
"Although his last days were days of suffering, yet he rejoiced in the presence of the One who has said, 'Lo, I will be with thee always, even unto the end of the world.'
"He will be greatly missed in the home, in the church and in the community. He was a loving and kind father, neighbor and friend. But we need not sorrow as those who have no hope. Our loss is his eternal gain.
"He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, children, grand child, brother Mose of Kingsway, Ohio and a host of relatives and friends. May the Lord comfort the bereaved.
"The funeral was held at the Trinity church Feb. 2 at 2 o'clock P.M. and burial made in Trinity cemetery. In spite of the bad weather, the church was filled, which shows the high esteem in which he was held in the community."
