Barbara Elizabeth Crotta, 80, of Bethany, died March 26, surrounded by her family, at the Hospital of St. Raphael of New Haven.

She was born in West Haven April 21, 1930, daughter of the late James E. and Thelma DuCharme Woodson.

She had been a Bethany resident since 1950, moving from West Haven.

An avid homemaker, she loved to spend time with her family and many friends. She loved playing cards, doing ceramics, playing bingo, photography, reading and traveling.

Barbara especially loved her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren and proudly enjoyed speaking with them about their many activities, her family said.

Survivors include her sons, Paul C. Crotta, III and his wife Janice of Bethany and Mark E. Crotta and his wife Josey of Bethany; her best friend, Betty Christensen; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her sister, Janice Peck; and her former husband Paul C. Crotta, Jr.

Services are Friday, April 1, 10 a.m., Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St., Seymour. Burial will follow in the family plot at Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven. Visiting hours will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at 10.
