Mrs. Avilee M. " Lea" (DeShong) Abbott, 63, of 13790-50 Molly Pitcher Highway, Greencastle, PA, passed away at 3:45 P.M., Tuesday, February 2, 2010 in Manor Care Health Services, Chambersburg, PA.
Born August 19, 1946 in Licking Creek Township, Fulton County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Boyd R. and Madeline (Kline) DeShong.
She and her husband of over nine years, Mr. Donald E. Abbott, were married August 21, 1999 in Harrisonville, PA.
Mrs. Abbott was employed as a cook for Harry D. Ziegler VFW Post #6319, Greencastle, for many years.
She enjoyed cooking, attending yard sales and working on word search puzzles.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Clydetta Mellott Hensley of Greencastle; one son, Todd Abbott of Chambersburg; one step-son, Donald Abbott, Jr. of Frederick, MD; three grandchildren, Miranda Rutter, Devin Hensley and Sharday Powell; two step-grandchildren, Bryce Abbott and Parker Abbott; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elner DeShong of Hustontown, PA, Wynetha Briggs of McConnellsburg, PA, Sonnie Sowers and Karen Gordon, both of Harrisonville, PA; three brothers, Boyd DeShong of Gertile Tree, MD, Sheldon DeShong of Bowie, MD, and Frank DeShong of Harrisonville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Mellott; one brother, Kenneth DeShong; and two sisters, Argentina Morgan and Sophia DeShong.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, February 5, 2010 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 South Washington Street, Greencastle, with Pastor Robert Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Church of the Nazarene Cemetery, Harrisonville.
