DEATH CLAIMS BELLWOOD MAN
Ronald Eugene Eyer, 24, of the Bellwood intersection, Altoona RD 3, died of leukemia at 8.25 a.m. yesterday at the Altoona Veterans Administration Hospital. His illness was brief.
Born in Rock Springs, Sept. 4, 1934, a son of Russell M. and Elizabeth (Barto) Eyer, he is survived by his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Joyce Cordes of Altoona RD 3 and Miss Beverly Eyer of Easton, and several aunts, uncles and nieces.
After graduation from the Bellwood-Antis High school in 1952, he was employed as switchtender for the Pennsylvania Railroad before entering the Army in January, 1957.
After basic training at Fort Knox, Ky., he spent 18 months overseas in garrison duty in Germany. During the crisis in Lebanon last summer, he served with the 41st battalion, cargo helicopter maintenance team in Beirut, Lebanon. He was discharged from the Army Jan. 13.
