Nicholas L Welter, son of Nicholas Welter and Margaret Meyer, was a native of Homer Township, Will, Illinois. He was the third of nine siblings. Nicholas married Margaret Jungels, daughter of John Jungels and Mary Ann Wagner, about 1890. He was widowed in 1896. His second wife was Anna Marie Jungels, his sister-in-law, whom he married about 1898. Nicholas died at age 69 and was interred in Saint Michael Cemetery in Homer (now Homer Glen).
