Wife of Squire Armstrong Franklin.
Minerva Wood was born September 30, 1847 in Jefferson County, IA. Died at 2:30 o'clock a.m. February 9, 1911 making her 63 years, 4 months and 9 days. She, with her parents came to Davis City when she was 5 years old and resided here ever since. She married Mr. Squire Franklin, a veteran of our civil war (Co. B. 3rd Missouri Calvary), in the autumn of the year of our Lord 1867. To them were born ten children, five sons and five daughters. Five of these children with her husband have preceded her in death. The five surviving children in the order of their birth are as follows; Geo. W., Pleasanton; Mrs. Anna E. Parker, of Hooker, SD; Mrs. Dott G. Markley, Centerville and John and Jesse C. of Davis City. All of whom were present for the funeral services. Some twenty years ago Mrs. Franklin united with the Seventh Day Adventist church of this city, of which she was still a Faithful member at death. Other immediate relatives also present at the funeral services were; Mr. A. G. Franklin, a brother of Squire Franklin; now of Kansas City, MO, Mrs. Henry McLain, Mrs. Adam McLain and Douglas Wood; Sister Mrs. W. K. Henderson of Batavia who could not be there. Interment was made in the old Davis City cemetery.
