Purchasing Director, Delphos Native, To Be Buried Wednesday
Charles F. Alexander, 62, of 124 N. Jameson Ave., director of purchases for the Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corp., died at 6:10 p.m. Sunday in St. Rita's Hospital after a one-month illness.
A native of Delphos, Mr. Alexander had been a resident of Lima the last 39 years, associated with Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corp., and its predecessor, the Lima Locomotive Works Inc., since 1917.
He began his employment with company March 19, 1917, as a clerk in the purchasing department and in 1936 was advanced to assistant purchasing agent. In 1946 he became purchasing agent of the firm and just recently became director of purchases.
He was a member of the corporation's 25-Year Club, Lima Area Purchasing Agents Assn., Lima Management Club, the Lima Club, Elks Lodge and Trinity Methodist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Carol E.; two sons, Dean Alexander, Falls Church, Va., and William, Alma, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Clifford Eversole, Youngstown, and Mrs. Robert Meffley, Cridersville; nine grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Behn, Huron, Ohio.
The body will remain in the Lewis Funeral Home, where the Elks Lodge will conduct memorial services at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Dr. J. Ira Jones officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
