"Cliff was killed in a strange accident with Minnesota Highway Department over at Worthington on 14 February of 1939 while felling trees with a crew there. This was, of course, Valentine's Day, and my dad's tender story of the day was that grandma (Mary Reeve, buried just next to Cliff; Grandma died in 1967) was making rock candy at home that day when she received the news."
