Sarah married Pembroke Jones on Nov. 27 1884 and at the same time purchased the Dudley Mansion in downtown Wilmington as well as the Seaside Hotel in 'Wrightsville by the Sound'. She later acquired adjacent property and turned it into a grand resort named 'Airlie' after Pembroke's ancestral home. The grand house here eventually had 34 rooms, indoor tennis court, and apartments for her guests that came from all over, particularly New York and Newport, where they had other residences.
