He married LaVonne Mae Hansen on March 24, 1957 at Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone (Pipestone), MN. They had 3 children: Dale Allen, Douglas Everett, and Lauri Lavon.

Survived by loving wife of 52 years, LaVonne; sons, Dale (Ellen), Douglas (Jody) both of Shakopee; daughter, Lauri (Greg) Welke of Ladysmith, WI; 10 grandchildren, Atalie and Nathan Sorenson, Westin (Dorina) Goetz, Parker Sorenson, Becky Minnick, Melissa (Jon) LeaMan, Julie (Troy) Ellis, Gregory, Miriah, and Amelia Welke; brothers and sister, Bob, Bill (Lois), and Ann Sorenson. Preceded in death by parents, Everett and Jennie Sorenson.
