"George actually passed away in Montana since he moved there and bought land in the area after his wife Isabella died. There is some documentation about the land he bought and the Montana death index shows that George Harkness died there on November 28, 1915."

HOMESTEADER DIES
George Harkness, aged 86 years, died at his homestead near Intake on Sunday about noon from the general infirmities of old age. Mr. Harkness lived here for a number of years and was greatly respected by all who knew him.
The remains were taken in charge by Lowe Brothers and this morning were shipped to the former home of the deceased at Zion City, Ill., for interment. He is survived by three sons and a daughter. One son, John Harkness, was a resident of the county for several years, but later removed, to the coast.
