OBITUARY (Akron Beacon Journal, 10/16/2008)

Lois E. Ignizio (nee Lowry), age 86, of Brimfield, passed away Wednesday, Ocotber 15, 2008, after a brief, courageous fight with cancer.

Born January 18, 1922, she resided most of her life in Ohio and nearly 23 years in Port Richey, FL where she andher husband, Thomas, had intended to live after his retirement from Goodyear Tire & Rubber COmpany. Lois married Thomas in 1942 at the height of World War II, when she accompanied him to several duty stations before returning to the Akron area.

Lois had many outdoor interests, including water skiing, boating and spending time on the beach. She also enjoyed gardening, painting, going to garage sales, and cooking for family and friend. Lois was known by her CB handle "Alley Cat" while driving across Florida to visit her sister, Pat. She volunteered for the literacy program. In Ohio, sher participated in the Pen Pal program with R.S.V.P. in Portage County.

Survivors include her children, Cynthia (Mike) Smith of Brimfield, and Vincent Ignizio of Newcomerstown; brother, Bernard; sisters Lela (Sebastian) Ferrante and Patricia Ignizio.

Her husband, Thomas Ignizio; her parents Glenn W. Lowry and Helen M. Waltz Lowry; and her brother, Bryce Lowry
all preceded her in death.

Friends will be received Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home at 703 East Main Street in Ravenna where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Brimfield. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Care Center on Ridgewood Road in Akron.
