Dwight was born to James Orval and Ruby Ida (Nahrung) Sowers September 28, 1930 on the home place four miles south of Halford, KS., and resided there until his death on April 6, 2011, except for two years in the Marine Corps stationed at Oceanside, California and Hawaii.
He farmed, raised cattle and enjoyed a small menagerie of animals.
Family devotions, church, church camps, reading the bible, singing and playing hymms were very important to him.
He married Jeannette Ratzlaff of Monument, KS on November 22, 1959.
To this union were born 8 children. Sonja, James Vyrl, Yvonne (1965-1969) Julie, Jason, Justin, Joel, and Janelle.
Preceaded in death by one daughter Yvonne, one grandson Indy, half sister Edith Sowers and half brother Wayne Sowers. Siblings: Grace (Cleo) Bastin, Lon (Marie) Sowers, Byron (Geraldine) Sowers, Lewis (Audrey) Sowers, Survived by brothers Frank of Benkelman, NB., Ralph of Fort Bragg, CA., and Robert (Frances) of Gallup, NM., and fifteen grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was a great, but quiet presence in the community and farming neighborhood. We will all greatly miss him.
