Ridgewood Man's Rite Was On Monday
Ridgewood - Funeral services were Monday for Joseph A. Donovan of 22 Pomander Walk, who died Friday at home following a brief illness. Interment was in Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah.
Born in Cambridge, Mass., Mr. Donovan had been a Ridgwood resident for the past 9 years.
He was a graduate of Boston College High School, the University of North Dakota and received his engineering degree from Villanova in 1948.
Mr. Donovan was the sale manager for Hanley Company, a brick and tile firm in New York City, and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel R. C. Church, the Holy Name Society and the Parents Association of that church, and the Ridgewood Council 1736 Knights of Columbus.
He was also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and was a World War II veteran having served with the Army Corps of Engineers.
Mr. Donovan is survived by his wife, the former Anna Mae Mann; three sons, Joseph A., Kevin P., and John M., all at home; five daughters, Kathleen, a sophmore at Georgetown University, Washington, D. C. , Michele, Patrice, Mary Elise, and Anne, all at home; three brothers, Edward of Cambridge, Mass., Gerald of Belmont, Mass., and Francis of Burlington, Mass.-; and his mother, Mrs. Alice McCabe Donovan of Cambridge, Mass. The funeral arrangements were handled by the Feeney Funeral Home, 32 Franklin Avenue.

Joseph A. Donovan
Joseph A. Donovan of 22 Pomander Walk, Ridgewood, died on Friday at his home after a brief illness.
He was employed as a sales manager of Hanley Co., brick and tiles firm, at the home office, 101 Park Avenue, New York City.
His wife is the former Anna Mae Mann.. Mr. Donovan was bom and raised in Cambridge, Mass., the son of Mrs. Alice McCabe Donovan of Cambridge and the late James Donovan.
He attended Boston College High School and the University of North Dakota. He received an engineering degree at Villanova University in 1948.
Mr. Donovan was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He saw action in the French invasion and later served in the Philippines.
A communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church, Ridgewood, he was also a member of its Holy Name Society.
He was a member of the Parents Association of Mt. Carmel School, and Ridgewood Council, No. 1736, Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Donovan was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three sons, Joseph A. Jr., 13; Kevin P., 12, and John M., 6; five daughters, Kathleen J., a sophomore in Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.; Michele E., 15; Patrice A., 11; Mary Elise, 7, and Anne T. 5 years old; three- brothers, Edward (Ted) of Cambridge, Mass., Gerald of Belmont, Mass., and Francis of Burlington; several nieces and nephews.
The service will be tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. from the Feeney Funeral Home, 232 Franklin Ave., Ridgewood.
A high requiem mass will be offered at 11 a.m. in Mt. Carmel Church. Interment will be in Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah. Friends may visit the Feeney Funeral Home today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.
