Donald E. Smith, 78, of Shakopee, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at St. Gertrude's Health Center in Shakopee.
Mr. Smith was born on Sept. 18, 1921, in Shakopee, the son of Edward and Jennie (Pearson) Smith. He was employed by Rosemount Inc. and was a member of the Shakopee VFW.
Survivors include his brother, Raymond (Mary Ellen) Smith of Eden Prairie; and one niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Richard H. Smith.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, with prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home in Shakopee. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shakopee, with the Revs. Joseph Fink and Robert Wellisch presiding. Pallbearers are Robert White, Thomas Duede, Gary Rosendahl, Walter Ruhland, Duane Marschall and John Lang. Interment will be at the Catholic Cemetery in Shakopee. Military honors will be provided by the Shakopee Honor Guard.
The Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home in Shakopee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
