Floyd James Gasque, 90, of Leighton, died Tuesday morning, April 5, 2011, at his residence.

Floyd was a member of Isbell Chapel Baptist Church, Colbert Heights, where he served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He also was a member of the Leighton Masonic Lodge No. 43 F&AM, and was recently awarded his 50-year pin and certificate. He retired from Reynolds Alloys in 1984. Floyd was a World War II veteran, attached to the Ninth Armored Division, Third Field Artillery Battalion "C" Battery, Section 2. He was a survivor of the capture of the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen, The Battle of the Bulge, and D-Day.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Gasque, and son, Jerry D. Gasque.

He is survived by his sons, Douglas Gasque (Elsie), Roger G. Gasque (Carla), Steve Gasque (Beta) and his daughter, Sandra Hallmark (Roger), and Jerry's wife, Angela Terry Gasque; one brother, Montgomery Gasque; grandchildren, Brian (Tammy), Heather, Holly (Jeremiah), Kevin, Brandon (Heather), Kerry (Lydia), Jessica (Jacob), Sarah, Liana, Kelli (Cesar), Christopher, Wesley, Lauren, LaDonya, Caressa (Joe) and Alex; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Erin, Logan, Hannah, Abigail, Isabella, Wyatt, Hayley, Nick, Breanna; brothers-in-law, John (Rosie), Jack (Virginia), Billy (Betty), David Russell (Sharon) and Ernie Aday; sisters-in-law, Bessie Speegle, Barbara Jones (Claudie), Faye Wilkes (Aubrey) and Brenda Jackson (Oneal).

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 8. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Colbert Memorial Chapel, with Brother Bobby Amos and Brother Gene Franks officiating. Masonic rites will follow at the graveside. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
