Orville Paulson, 82 years old, passed away peacefully at his home in Temecula, CA. Sunday, April 3, 2011 surrounded by his family. He succumbed to melanoma skin cancer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Janet Christine Wallin Paulson, who died Sept. 1, 2009. Together they had six children- Kurt (Jimi) Paulson of Black Diamond, WA; Matt (Eva) Paulson of Keizer, OR; Christine (Paul) van Ettinger of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Karen (Tim) Lomheim of Riverside, CA; James (Robin) Paulson of Mira Loma, CA; Amy (Jim) Caetta of Placentia, CA; and also a springer spaniel named Charlie. Orv and Janet were the proud grandparents of 11 grandchildren. Orville is survived by one brother, Lawrence Paulson of San Pedro, CA, in addition to his children, grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Ole and Clara Paulson and younger brother, Claremont. Orville Paulson was born Dec. 14, 1928 in St. Paul, Minnesota. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea. He attended the University of Minnesota, earning his Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 1954. Orville enjoyed a lengthy career as a civil and structural engineer. He worked for the city of St. Paul, Ellerbe, C.F. Braun, and Portland Cement Association before starting Paulson Engineering, a structural consulting business in Glendora, CA. Graveside service will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA on Thursday, April 7th at 10:30am. Reception to follow at nearby family home in Riverside.
