Retired USAF Tsgt and owner of Pie Shop in Santa Maria, California. He was the oldest child of William Thomas McGinnis and Isabelle Virginia Roe McGinnis of Preston county, West Virginia. Sam grew up at Tunnelton. He was the father of four (with first wife, Gloria Hess McGinnis). He married Gloria Agnes Hess on 25 Jan 1946, at Riverside Apostolic in Riverside, Monongalia county, WV. She was the daughter of Jefferson and Faye (Bell) Hess, born in Morgantown, WV. They were divorced, she died before him.
His second wife, Florence Wanita Dishman McGinnis preceded him in death.
His third wife, LaVerne also preceded him, as well as two children, John Thomas McGinnis and Samuel William McGinnis.

He worked for a time as a B&O Railroad Telegraph Operator.
He served with the US Army in WWII* and the Korean War. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a Missile Guidance Systems Technician and Instructor.

Sam enjoyed taking photographs, and was very interested in the history of his family.
