From the Medina Gazette:

Mrs. Josephine M. Tramonte, 48, of 4982 Dunsha Road, Median, died Sunday at Akron General Hospital after the life long illness of Rheumatic Fever. She had her first heart attack in her thirties and was in heart failure at the time of her death. Mrs. Tramonte was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a graduate of Hunter College of New York (unusual for her time, Josie was accepted into medical school before she left the program to get married), coming to the Medina area 24 years ago.

Josie was smart, funny, and outgoing. She was very devoted to her family and, although she was bedridden for much of her life after the age of 38, she still tried very hard to be a good mother.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew J.; son Jack J.; and a daughter Carmela of Stow. Her mother, Mrs. Vitina Cervellione of Brooklyn N.Y.; and three brothers, Joseph, Peter, and Mario, all of Long Island, N.Y., also survive.

Mrs. Tramonte was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Mothers Club, and the Isabella Guild of St. Francis Xavier Church.

Friends may call at the Rossi Chapel, 552 N. Main St. Akron, today from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Requiem mass will be said Thursday at 10 a.m. at the St. Francis Xavier Church in Medina, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron.

Parish Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
