"FRATERNITY LEADER OF BILOXI IS DEAD"

"F. C. Burnett, aged 50 years, a native of Rochester, N.Y., and a resident of the Gulf coast for eight years and of Biloxi for the past two years, died Sunday evening at 8:30 o'clock, following an operation for appendicitis,other troubles having also entered into the cause of his death. The funeral will take place from his late residence at 1036 West Howard avenue this afternoon at 4 o'clock. The officers and members of Rushing Camp Nol 839, Woodmen of the World, Biloxi Hive No. 3, L. O. T. M., The Biloxi Tent No. 12, L. O. T. M. will meet at their respective halls at 3 p.m. to attend the funeral of their late brother-member. Mr. Burnett is survived by his wife and two sons, Clarence and Frank. At the home in Rochester, N. Y., are three brothers and one sister. Mr. Burnett first came to the Coast in 1903 to take charge of the decorating and painting of the Great Southern Hotel, and liked this section so much that he has since resided here. Prior to coming to the Coast, he was contractor and painter at Memphis, where he numbers his friends by the hundreds. At the time of his death, Mr Burnett was ably filling the position of Assistant State commander of the Knights of the Maccabees. He was of ? temperment and with his ? and brotherly interest in ? he made many friends and ? a superb organizer and worker in the prominet fraternity with wich he was affiliated. He organized events at Biloxi, Cedar Lake, Mississippi City, Handsboro, Lorraine, Vinnie, Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian, Foley, Ala., and many others. He covered a wide range of territories and was loved by every maccabee with whom he come in contact. He was a good citizen and a kind husband and father, and his loss will be keenly feld. In addition to be a member of the Knights of the Maccabees, he was a member of the Woodmen of the World. State Commander Frank O. Croy, of the Maccabees, will reach Biloxi this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock to attend the funeral."
