ORLAND -- A service for Joe Mello, 80, of Orland, will be 11 A.M. Saturday, April 1 at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Orland.
He died Tuesday, March 28, 2000.
Mello was born July 8, 1919, to Manuel and Maria Mello in Lolita.
In 1941, he married Alice Nunes in Ferndale.
Mello worked at(sic) a dairyman for three years and later was a milk hauler for Pet Milk and Foremost for 26 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a life member of the UPEC, and lived in Orland since 1947. He enjoyed trap shooting, fishing, hunting, and camping. Fort Bragg was one of his favorite spots.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Mello of Orland, and a grandson.
Visitation will be 1-5 P.M. and 7-8 P.M. Friday, March 31, at F.D. Sweet and Son Mortuary in Orland.
Memorial contributions may be made to ALS or Butte Home Health and Hospice in care of F.D. Sweet and Son Mortuary in Orland, which is handling the arrangements.
