For some unknown reason he was buried outside of the fence on the east boundary line of the cemetery, which in 1901 was the Original Section, Row 21, Lot 55. His grave is west of Hillside Addition, Row 22, and Lot 8.

The late Roy Hansen, who was for many years the local funeral director in Verden, did not know the reason for this strange burial.

There were no obituaries published about his death in Verden or any of the surrounding towns.

Etha 'Effie' Lane Worley who died on 21 Jun 1908 at the age of 24 is buried at the Verden Cemetery in an unmarked grave.

She was the wife of John B. Worley, brother to Thomas S. Worley.

Her brief obituary offered no clues as to the background of Thomas Worley.

No other Worley family members are buried here.
