Salome Kraemer, born in Ingenheim, Bas Rhin, Alsace, France is the daughter of Andre Kraemer and Salome Wagner. She immigrated and arrived in the US on June 30, 1855. On October 17, 1855 she married Michael Michel in Debuque, Iowa. They first settled in Winneshiek County, then moved to Howard County, Iowa and raised 8 boys and 1 girl. Even though Salome died at the age of 82, her hair was jet black without a hint of grey.
