Charlotte – Leitner Shurley Hall, 96, died Saturday, April 9, 2011, at CMC-Pineville.
Born in southern Mecklenburg County, N.C., he was the last survivor of 11 children born to the late John Kistler Hall and Lillian Maude Potts Hall of Indian Land. He was married to the late Elizabeth Sears Hall. He graduated from Pineville High School in 1932. He served in the U.S. Army 7th Infantry. He was retired from the Mecklenburg County Police Department. He was the oldest member of Harrison United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his children, Thomas D. Hall and his wife, Lien, of Seattle, Wash., Judith Hall Howell and her husband, David, of Trout Dale, Va., Barbara E. Hall of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., William B. Hall and his wife, Linda, of Annapolis, Md., Jo Ellen Hall of Charlotte, Timothy S. Hall and his wife, Cecilia, of Jacksonville, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, Eric L. Hall, Kevin J. Hall, Keith R. Hall, Holly M. Hall, Stephen Howell, Gregory Howell, Joshua B. Tew, Joel B. Tew, Farrah L. Hall, Nathan B. Hall, Anna E. Hall and Ian H. Hall; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Marvin Hall.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at Harrison United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. David Beam, Pastor Tim Webster and Pastor Gayle Montgomery, with burial in the church cemetery.
