A resident of Peoria since 1933, Mr. Matheis formerly was employed by Hartman's Bakery in Springfield and Schultze Bakery in Peoria.
Mr. Matheis was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, Edith Alma Keller Matheis ; one daughter, Helen Bramlet of Largo, Fla.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter E. and Frank A. Matheis of Springfield; one aunt; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stanley Milewski officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
