REV. MICHAEL O'DAY
Age 96, a priest of the San Bernardino
Diocese, died peacefully March 19, at
Nazareth House, San Diego, surrounded
by caregivers and friends. Fr. Michael
O'Day was born in Co. Roscommon, Ire-
land, Dec. 16, 1914, attended Maynooth
Seminary and was ordained priest by the
Bishop of Dublin, June 19, 1938. He came
to the San Diego Diocese in October 1938
and served faithfully in many parishes in
the Diocese of San Diego and San Ber-
nardino, most recently as pastor of Holy
Family Parish, Hesperia and, in his re-
tirement, at St. Vincent Ferrer Parish,
Sun City. He is survived by many nieces
and nephews and is dearly loved by them
and by countless people whose lives
he touched through his pastoral ministry
of 72 years.
