Bernice Eva Harne, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, surrounded by family at home, peacefully passed from this life11:00am Christmas morning into eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Bernice E. Harne was born February 25, 1921 to the late Ora Richardson Willard and Bertha Rae (Toms) Willard in Foxville, Maryland. She was a founding member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Smithsburg, MD and worshiped while playing violin there. In 1941, she married Pastor George A. Harne of Garfield, MD and began a long life of enduring love and faith. Together they impacted many lives through their ministry in Maryland (Smithsburg and Hagerstown) and Florida (Wildwood, Jacksonville, Pensacola, Lake City, Haines City). They retired and returned to Pensacola in 1982 becoming members of 'T' Street Church of God (later Worship Center, now Legacy Church), serving in nursing home ministry, and enjoying the company of friends and family. For the last four years, she has lived with and been cared for by family.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Rev. George A. Harne in 2006; great-granddaughters: Allyson Alt and Addyson Alt; sisters: Mildred V. Hayes, Ruth L. Harne, Catherine A. Lucas, Evelyn M. Barlup, and Mary P. Harrison; and brothers: John R. Willard, Robert L. Willard, and Charles O. Willard.
Bernice is survived by: daughter, Janet B. Guthrie (Bill) of Daytona Beach, FL; son, Glyndon R. Harne (Wanda) of Pensacola, FL; seven grandchildren: Dr. George A. Harne (Debbie) of Missouri City, TX; Bill R. Guthrie, Jr. (Michelle) of DeLand, FL; John L. Guthrie II (Rhan) of Arlington, MA; Ryan Harne (Cheree) of Pensacola, FL; Caryn Guthrie King (Damian) of Daytona Beach, FL; Risa Harne of Pensacola, FL; and Eric E. Teel of Pensacola, FL; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey Wright; sisters-in-law, Palma Willard and Josephine Willard, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Friday, December 29, 2023, at 3:00 PM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Visitation will be one hour prior at 2:00 PM. Bro. Ryan Trawick will be officiating. Interment will be in Pensacola Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 1:00 PM.
