Obituary - Mary Cribbs

Mary Elizabeth Cribbs was born March 6, 1927 in Battle Creek, Michigan to John and Pauline Ketner.
When "The Depression" occurred they moved to Hardy and Rector, Arkansas to be near family. There her father began farming. Mary attended school at Mary's Chapel. In 1945 Mary, her parents and brother "Bud" moved to Armona. She graduated from Lemoore High School in 1946. Mary married Dan Cribbs in 1947. They operated Dan's Variety Store and Dan's Texaco Station for many years together. Following the death of Dan in 1978, Mary sold the business and retired.
She enjoyed gardening, listening to the police and weather channels on her scanner and continuing her joy of scrapbooking. She also enjoyed sharing the articles and items she had collected since the 1940's. One would sit in awe as she spoke of her life.

Mary looked forward to the weekly letter she and her sister, Edith, wrote to each other for several years and the family reunions. She was well known and recognized by past customers and enjoyed reminiscing with them. Corcoran was her "home." She had a generous heart and was always "there" for her family.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Dana Dyar of Visalia; her son, David Cribbs and wife Patricia also of Visalia; grandsons, Michael and wife Brandy, Ronnie and wife Karen; Chris and wife Jennifer of Corcoran, Brett Dyar of Visalia; Tracy Molina of Corcoran. Great-grandchildren include Johnny, Brandon, Mikey, Emily and Cody. She is also survived by her sister, Edith Vawter of Port Hueneme and sister-in-law, Louise Ketner of Lemoore; several nephews, nieces and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Daniel Cribbs, her eldest son, Stanley Cribbs, her sister, Hilda Turner and a brother, Frank "Bud" Ketner.

Visitation will be at Bledsoe Family People's Funeral Chapel, Tuesday, August 24, 2010 from 3-7 p.m. Graveside Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Corcoran Cemetery.
