Clarence V. Woosley, 87, died Monday, April 11, 2011 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 14 at Iles Funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Clarence grew up in Creston, IA one of the nine children of Oscar and Pauline (Brown) Woosley. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He lived in Polk City, IA from 1954 to 1979 then moved to the Des Moines area. He worked for many years as a tool and die maker for Lenox Industries then later retired from EMCO.

Clarence spent many years volunteering for AWANA Clubs at the Polk City and Ankeny Evangelical Free Churches and more recently was a member of the Ankeny Seventh Day Adventist Church. He enjoyed his friends and activities at the Runnells Community Center, horses, motorcycles and WWF Wrestling.

Those left to cherish Clarence's memory include his two daughters, Sheryl (Keith) Miller of Elkhart and Pam (Ron) Backstrom of Des Moines; sister-in-law, Dorothy Woosley of Des Moines; five grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn in 1993; second wife, Esther in 2006; parents and eight siblings.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the VA Des Moines Community Living Center.
