Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 22 Apr 1880 p3: "On Fast-Day, while doing the evening chores in his son's absence, Oliver Wentworth of Howard, aged about 70 years, dropped down and expired almost instantly. He had gathered the eggs and sent them to the house in his hat by a child; on her quick return with the hat he had fallen backward, his hand still grasping the rake he had been using. Help was immediately summoned, and every effort possible made to revive him, but life was extinct. He was in his usual health, but had been for a long time subject to heart disease, which was doubtless the cause of his sudden death. He was an upright man, and a kind neighbor. A large circle of children and friends deeply mourn his sudden loss."
