Mrs. Sconyers was the daughter of the late Benjamin Millard and Isaba Davis Morris. She was born in Oak Park, GA on September 26, 1919, and loved the home place and family from there. Until the time of her death she spoke fondly of her memories and never missed a family reunion. She was a 1937 graduate of Oak Park High school.
Mrs. Sconyers was a homemaker and a seamstress. She constructed many beautiful garments for her family and community and whenever anyone needed alterations done she was the one to call. She continued to sew until her eyesight failed her. She was the oldest member of First Baptist Church of Swainsboro and a member of Faithful Workers Sunday School Class. She was a loving mother, Nanny, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Mr. Julian H. Sconyers, Sr. and a great-grandson Coen Lee Deloach. She was the youngest of eight siblings who all preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Julian H. (Norma) Sconyers, Jr. of Swainsboro and Sharon Sconyers (Ronnie) Alderman of Statesboro; four grandchildren: Jonathan Woodward, Teracie Alderman (Pebe) Deloach, Dr. Jay Sconyers, and Timothy (Jamie) Alderman; five great-grandchildren: Marti, Jonna and Alli Woodward and Ella Jane and Grey Deloach.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Swainsboro with the funeral service following at 10:00 with Dr. Robert Blankenship officiating, assisted by Rev. Paul Leigh. Interment will be in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, and Andy Morris and Danny Roberson. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Swainsboro, GA, 204 W Main St., Swainsboro, GA 30401.
