BARNES, REUBEN--Born April 22, 1756, at North Harem, New Haven County, Conn. Died at Forestville, Chautauqua County, N. Y. Grave in Forestville Cemetery, Town of Hanover. Enlisted April 10 or 12, at Litchfield, Conn. Served seven months as private in Capt. Porter's Company under Col. Wooster. Re-enlisted under Eli Smith. Residence at time of application for pension, October 12, 1832, Winfield, Herkimer County, N. Y. Lived with Dennis Barnes at time of his death. On Pension List of 1840. In Arkwright on April 18, 1838, Mrs. Barnes, wife of Reuben Barnes, died, aged 67 years.

Reuben Barnes received a pension, 1832, for service as private in the Connecticut Line. He was born, 1756, in North Haven, Conn.
Samuel McClanathan (1740-1825) served as sergeant, 1775, in Capt. David Spear's company, Colonel Pyncheon's regiment, Massachusetts militia. He was born and died in Palmer, Mass.
[p.228] Jehosaphet Eldred (1716-1801) was a patriot and member of committee to provide for the families of soldiers. He was born in Falmouth, Mass.; died in Warren, Conn.
Alpheus Thompson enlisted, 1780, to reinforce the Continental Army, and served as private, 1782, in Capt. James Sherman's company, Col. Gideon Burt's Massachusetts regiment. He was born, 1758, in Brimfield, Mass.
