Mark joined his sister Dixie Colleen in the growing family and was followed by Mary Deanna, David Eugene, Deborah Jo, and Robert Lavell. The young Burden children learned the ways of the Midwestern farm at an early age, including working with livestock and crops, along with hunting, fishing and gardening.
The family moved into Memphis, Missouri in 1964, having purchased the local Locker. Here they learned about the processing of meat and running a different kind of family business.
Mark later moved to Springfield, Missouri where he graduated from High School and met his future wife Marcia Gale Layne.
Mark and Marcia were married on June 1, 1973 in Springfield, Greene County, Missouri. To them were born 3 daughters: Jackie Lee, Cherie Gale, and Jamie Dawn.
Mark joined the United States Marine Corps shortly after their marraige and he and Marcia moved to California where their first daughter, Jackie, was born.
After completing his service Mark, Marcia and Jackie moved back to the Springfield area where Cherie and Jamie were born.
Mark and Marsha divorced in March of 1984.
Mark married Theresa Irene (West) Spencer on September 20, 1986 in Springfield, Missouri.
Joining the family along with Theresa were her two children: Jason Matthew "Matt" and Randee Spencer.
A son was also born to Mark and Theresa: Michael Robert Burden, born on November 6, 1987 in Springfield, Greene County, Missouri.
Although Mark had worked at other professions over the years, his first choice of jobs was Truck Driving. He worked in this profession for many years until failing health from Parkinson's Disease prevented it.
Mark is survived by his wife Theresa and all of his children, along with their spouses and numerous grandchildren. He is also survived by his 5 siblings as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, & nephews.
He was poceeded in death by both of his parents and two grandchildren: Austin Spencer and Hayden McCoy.
Visitation was held at Greenlawn Funeral Home East on April 17th with graveside services at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Springfield on the 18th.
