Addie Bea Starr

Addie Bea Davidson was born to Robert and Rachel (Eversole) Davidson on September 11, 1921, in Beattyville (Lee County) Kentucky. She was the youngest of eleven children. Robert, her father, was a Methodist minister in Beattyville. He passed away when Addie was 6 months old. Her mother, Rachel, passed away at age 43 when Addie was 8. Addie and her 11 year-old brother, Robert, being the only younger children in the home, moved to Sallisaw, Oklahoma, to live with their maternal grandmother after their mother's death.
Addie married Sam Dick Starr on February 19, 1938, in Tulsa. After Sam Dick completed welding school in Tulsa, the couple moved back to Stilwell and lived with the Col Starr family at Starr Springs. They later moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where Sam Dick worked at the Glen L. Martin Defense Plant during WWII.
Addie attended beauty school at the Nebraska Beauty School in Omaha and graduated on December 1, 1943. She then was employed as a beautician at the Brandeis Dept. Store in Omaha and later at the Ft. Crook Army Base now known as Offutt Air Force Base. As soon as the war ended the couple moved back to Stilwell and built a home. Addie continued to work as a beautician until she opened Starr's Drive-In. Sam Dick was an area educator.
Addie is survived by two daughters, Helen Mae Hahn, of Arlington, Texas and Judy Ann Wahrmund, of Broken Arrow; grandchildren, Melanie Breeden, of Midwest City, Kelli Wahrmund, of Tulsa, Sheri Stoner and husband, Ryan, of Edmond, four great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Dick and one granddaughter, Dana Holtgrefe, as well as her parents and siblings.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, at the Stilwell City Cemetery with Pastor Joe White officiating.
Burial is entrusted to the care of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
