Obituary in the Gazette and Daily, dated February 14, 1937: Mrs. Sarah Krout, wife of Levi M. Krout, died at 10 o'clock this morning at her home in the borough. Death was caused by a complication of diseases, following an illness that kept her bedfast for seven weeks. She was aged 70 years and 4 months.

Mrs. Krout was a lifelong resident of this community. She was a member of East Codorus Church of the Brethern, near here. Surviving besides her husband are nine children: Walter, Charlotte, N.C.; Charles, York RD3; Mrs. Charles Hamberger, York RD3; Mrs. William Markle, York; Edward, Dallastown RD1; John and Chauncey, this place; Mrs. Walter Markey, York RD2; and Mrs. Gordon Griffith, York; 33 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Albert Riecart, York RD3; Albert Ness, Dallastown RD; Mrs. Myers wife of Rev. Samuel B. Myers, Dallastown RD and Edward Ness of York.

The funeral will be held Thursday with brief services at the house at 10 a.m. and further services at Friedensaal's(White)Church. Rev. S.H.Culler will officiate. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery. Funeral Director, G.W. Geiple, Glen Rock has charge of the arrangements.
