Death Summons
Mrs. Tilson Last Friday

Mrs. S. M. Tilson, 64, a resident of Gosper county for the past forty-five years, with the exception of a few years when the family home was in Lexington, passed away at the home of her son, Earl, last Friday afternoon following an illness of a year. Last July she was taken to Rochester, Minn., for medical examination and less than three weeks ago returned from Hot Springs, South Dakota, where she was being given treatments.

Mrs. Tilson, with her husband, were pioneer residents of this county, coming here in 1887, and taking a homestead. They battled the hardships of the early days and prospered, but a few years ago retired from farm life, living in Elwood for a short time and later moving to Lexington.

Mrs. Tilson was born near Galesburg, Ills., December 18, 1868. On October 15, 1884, she was united in in marriage to S. M. Tilson at Macomb, Ills., and the newly married couple started for Nebraska in a covered wagon. They located on a farm near Sutton, and remained there for three years and then moved to Gosper county.

Mrs. Tilson is survived by five sons and their families: Elmer M., of Long Beach, Calif.; Wallace R., John R., Clifford V., and Earl D., all of Elwood. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother. Mrs. Tilson was preceded in death by her husband on October 10, 1931.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Methodist church of which she was a member, the service being in charge of Rev. Kent H. Clifton, the pastor. Appropriate music was rendered by Mrs. Aringdale, Mrs. Winger, J. M. Reynolds, Carl Thelen and Mrs. Ledyard. Interment was made in the Elwood Cemetery beside the grave of her husband.
