Harry J. Seibold, 91, of 1309 Killdeer Lane, Metamora, formerly of Sparland, died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.


He was born Oct. 2, 1915, in Sparland to the late Harry and Rose C. (Pelz) Seibold. He married Patricia Frey on Oct. 6, 1951, in Hamburg, N.Y. She survives.


Also surviving is one son, Gary (Julie) Seibold of Germantown Hills; one daughter, Sheri Seibold of Champaign; and one brother, Roy (Florence) Seibold of Sparland.


He was preceded in death by one brother, Duane Seibold and one sister, Audrey Seibold.


He was a 1933 graduate of Sparland High School, following which he attended Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science from 1936 to 1939.


On Oct. 31, 1942, he entered the United States Air Force at Scott Field, Ill., achieving the rank of staff sergeant, and was discharged from the service at Fort Sheridan, Ill., on March 29, 1946.


He worked at the Warsaw Button Factory in Warsaw, N.Y., from 1947 to 1956, Lion Knitting Mill in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1956 to 1959 and was head dyer at the Lacon Woolen Mill from 1959 until it closed in 1968. He worked for the Illinois Department of Revenue from 1969 until 1980.


He was a member of the Lacon Congregational UCC Church, where he served in various local church positions. For several years, he participated in world mission trips. He also served as a trustee of the Sparland Cemetery for more than 20 years. He was a life member of the Marshall County Historical Society.


Cremation rites have been accorded.
