Ruth LeDuc, 95, of Washington, IL formerly of Tower Hill, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in Washington Christian Village. She was born September 7, 1915 in Pana, IL, daughter of William & Anna (Arnold) Slifer. Ruth lived her entire life in the Pana-Tower Hill area until April of last year when she moved to Washington, IL. A homemaker, she and her husband owned LeDuc's Market in Tower Hill from 1948 to 1980. She was a member of Tower Hill Christian Church. In her earlier years, Ruth played women's softball and had been involved in the Tower Hill School PTA. She and her husband played in bunko and pinochle clubs. She was a volunteer for hospice in Shelbyville, Meals on Wheels, American Cancer Society, and Ellis Cancer Research in Columbia, MO. Ruth enjoyed fishing, reading, cooking, and eating. She was very proud of her large family and they were her first love.
Ruth Slifer and Marcel LeDuc were united in marriage on January 31, 1931. He preceded her in death on September 14, 1988.
She is survived by her children: John LeDuc & wife Dorothy, Saratoga Springs, UT; Cathy Loffredo, Washington, IL; Fred LeDuc & wife Mary Kay, Deere River, MN; Dick LeDuc & wife Sharon, Ashville, NC; Dan LeDuc & wife Peg, Granville, IL; and Margie Gorby & husband Jim, Washington, IL; 23 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons: Thomas Eugene LeDuc on January 8, 1953 & Marcel W. "Kooch" LeDuc on October 25, 2010; 3 brothers & 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in Tower Hill Christian Church at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Gorby and Pastor Derrick Ritchie officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana. Friends may call on Monday from 5 to7 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
