He was a police officer for the Dallas Police Department for 23 years, retiring in 1977. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Floyd Baker and Homer Preston Baker.
Survivors include his two sons, Ray Baker and wife, Mary Alice, and Roy Baker; the mother of his sons, Melba Ray Baker; two brothers, David and Douglas Baker; two sisters, Dorothy Chambers and Betty Godwin; and three grandchildren, Rachel, Taylor, and Cheyenea Baker.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Heath Cemetery near Whitney with Mr. Bruce Martin officiating.
