Dutch was born in Parkersburg. He was the son of Roy Vernon McVaigh and Grace McVaigh Pickering, who preceded him in death.
Dutch was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a lifetime member of American Legion. He was a professional truck driver for much of his life, driving for Blue Flame Gas, Kralis, AMF and Roadmaster, from which he retired. He was an active member of Elm Street Christian Church in Olney.
Dutch married Karon Fisher, of Olney, on November 15, 1968. He is survived by John McVaigh and his wife, Stacey of Malta, N.Y., Edward McVaigh of Olney and Kathryn McVaigh Hixon and her husband, Thomas Hixon of Claremont; five beautiful grandchildren, Alexis Hixon and Jacob Hixon of Claremont and Ryan McVaigh, Matthew McVaigh and Meghan McVaigh of Malta, N.Y.; siblings, Roy Vernon "Junior" McVaigh, Donald McVaigh, Betty McVaigh of Carrollton, Ga., Leona McVaigh, Rosemary "Sally" Gustin and Larry McVaigh; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Parkinson's disease research or C.A.R.E.
His body was cremated and a memorial service was held in his honor celebrating his life at Elm Street Christian Church in Olney.
