ACKLAND--Mrs. Georgia Ruth Ackland, 39, who lived at 2215 S Second St., Jacksonville Beach, died Wednesday evening at her residence after a brief illness. She was a native of Jacksonville and had lived at beach 20 years. She was a member of the Beach Methodist Church and of Ribault Chapter 195 Order of Eastern Star. She had been employed for several years as assistant manager of The Inn at Ponte Vedra Beach.

Survivors include two daughters; Mrs. Billie Ruth Dorris and Miss Cheryl Ackland, both of Jacksonville Beach, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Mathis of Jacksonville Beach, three brothers. Chief Warrant Officer, Benjamin J. Mathis, Ft. Benning, Ga., Harry Mathis of Okinawa and Willie P. Mathis of Jacksonville Beach and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Beach-Methodist Church with Rev. D. W. Jones, associate pastor officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, with graveside services in charge of members of the Eastern Star.

Active pallbearers will be Raymond Strickland, Jack Humphries, Harold Bryan, Rufus Wildes, Harry Dickenson and J. T. McCormick, honorary, Horace Drew, Harold Mills, Fred Merkels, Dr. Earl Roberts, Joe Pitts, Charles H. Franks, Leo Yancey, Lem Laurence, Roy Bass, Jim Comer, Allen Kelly, George Frazier, Jack Lawles, Colvin Phillips and Richard A. Bacon.

Pallbearers have been requested to assemble at the church at 12:45 p.m.

Arrangements are in charge of Giddens-Griffith Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach.
