"Loraine Lassiter Close, 93, passed away 4 July 2001 in Rockport. Texas. She was born in Rockport on 11 March 1908 to Sidney James and Bertha Roberts Lassiter. She was educated in Rockport and graduated from Rockport High School. Loraine was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she served on many committees and held many offices in the ?? Sanctuary and was a member of the Catholic Woman’s Club. She was a member of the Rockport PTA where she served on various committees and held elected offices. She was also an active member of the Rockport Cemetery Association. She retired from the Aransas County Tax Office in Rockport.
Loraine was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, William Frederick “Willie” Close. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Close McNabb of Rockport; her son and daughter-in-law, James Frederick, Sr and Dolly Close of City By The Sea (Corpus Christi): two granddaughters, Devora Kay McNabb Touchstone of Denver, Colorado, and Anne Close (Kevin) Morgan of Appomattox, Virginia; four grandsons: Curtis Alan (Jan) McNabb of Rockport, James Frederick Close, Jr of Odessa, Texas, Edward Roy Close and Dennis Hart Close, both of Houston; her great-grandchildren: Stacey Touchstone of Denver, Cory Morgan of ????, Jessica Close, all of Houston.
Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am, Friday, 6 July 2001 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Friday, 6 July 2001 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment to follow at Rockport Cemetery."
