George David Duke, age 50, of Florence, passed away Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, in the funeral home chapel, with Brother David Rushlow officiating. Interment will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Mr. Duke was a native and lifelong resident of Lauderdale County and a member of Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local No. 455. He was preceded in death by his father, Bernice C. Duke. Survivors include mother, Rubye Duke, of Florence, Ala.; daughter, Jennifer Harrell and husband, Donny, of Mobile, Ala.; son, Jeremy Duke and wife, Adrienne, of Mobile, Ala.; sisters, Pam Hughes and husband, Larry, of Ooltewah, Tenn., Ina Donsbach and husband, Frank, of Sheffield, Ala.; grandchildren, Christian Lesley, Taylor Lesley, Landon Duke; four nephews and three nieces. The family extends a special thanks to Hospice of the Shoals, especially to Kim Mitchell and Michelle Williams. Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, 3840 Ridgeway Drive, Birmingham, AL 35209. Please include return address. Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence, is directing.
