Violet M. Anderson, 98, of Sturgeon Lake, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in Augustana Mercy Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born January 5, 1913 in Allendorf, IA to Ude and Matilda (Gerkin) Davids. Violet was united in marriage to Soren "Tom" Anderson on November 9, 1939 in Sibley, IA. Violet was a cook at Camp Miller on Sturgeon Lake for many years. She was a member of Sturgeon Lake-Denham Auxiliary and PTA as well as Faith Lutheran Church of Sturgeon Lake. Violet was also a Sunday School Teacher at Nordland Church. Violet was also the last member of her Neighborhood Birthday Club. Violet enjoyed traveling to Texas and other various places, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles. Violet especially loved to babysit her grandchildren and other children in the neighborhood.
Violet is preceded in death by her husband, Soren "Tom" Anderson, her parents and 12 brothers and sisters.
Violet is survived by 1 son, Lee (Karen) Anderson of Sturgeon Lake; 1 daughter, Linda (Verner) Larson of Grand Rapids; 6 grandchildren, Dawn Komula, Shari Gunderson, Michelle (Mike) Nelson, Brad (Heather) Anderson, Chris (Liza) Anderson and Jon Anderson; great grandchildren, Andrew Bieganski, Jacob Komula, Blake, Joshua and Parker Nelson, Breanna, Natalie, Elly, Noelle and Ian Anderson; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, April 11, from 10 AM until the 11 AM service in Faith Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Lake. Interment will be in Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Birch Creek Township.
Arrangements are with Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.
