Walter W. Adams, a retired civil service employee of LaVergne, died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital in Nashville. He was 72 years of age.
Funeral services will be at 10 A.M. Friday from LaVergne Baptist Church with the Rev. Eual F. Ursery officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Woodfin Mortuary of Smyrna is in charge. The body is at the mortuary.
Mr. Adams was born in Robertson County son of the late Fisher and Mattie Jackson Adams. He was a member of Smyrna VFW Post 8422, American Legion Post 16 and LaVergne Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War I.
Mr. Adams had lived in the Smyrna-LaVergne area for the past 22 years. He retired from civil service work at Sewart Air Force Base in 1960.
He was a member of the Adult Men's Sunday School class No. 1 of LaVergne First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Virgin Adams, LaVergne; one son, E. B. Adams, Mt. Juliet; one daughter, Mrs. John W. F. Caldwell, Paris, Tenn; 2 half-brothers, Demerich Adams, Chico, Calif., William Adams, Paducah, KY; 2 sisters, Mrs. Annie Walker, Mrs. Lillie Birdwell, Nashville, 4 half sisters, Mrs. Rose Williamson, Utah, Mrs. Nell Davis, California, Mrs. Vertrice Manson, Jacksonville, Florida, Mrs. Birdie Henderson, Madison, Tenn., and nine grandchildren.
