Henry Whitestone North, ((often times referred to as Harry)) is related to my Great-Grandfather "Charles Wesley North". Henry and Ida Loraina Wilhelmina Ringling were married on August 11, 1902, Cook Co., Chicago, Ill. Ida was the only sister to the eight Ringling brother's. Together they had two sons John Whitestone Ringling North 1903-1985, and Henry Whitestone Ringling North 1909-1993, and a daughter Mary Salome ((Sally)) Whitestone Ringling North Wadsworth 1907-1987.

Both sons became heirs of the heavily indebted Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, after the death of their Uncle, John Ringling, who was the last of the eight Ringling brothers. They ended up litigating for years to salvage what was left of the business during the Great Depression to eventually lead it through another thirty years from the Big Tent era to the highly controversial air conditioned arena's until, they sold it in 1967.

~ Ending 80 years of family owned control.

In the early 60s both brothers purchased their father's ancestral home in Aughrim, County Galway, Ireland, becoming dual citizens.

After selling the circus in 1967, John moved to Europe, where he resided in Switzerland and Belgium.

* May be interesting to read ...
Henry Whitestone Ringling North chronicled his family story in "The Circus Kings" Our Ringling Family Story written by Alden Hatch.

* Information on their father Henry ((Harry)) Whitestone North is a little sketchy due to it being over-ridden by the Barnum and Bailey Ringling Brothers Circus, et al however, I did find a posting that Henry ((Harry)) Whitestone North is buried along side of August Ringling (Ida's father) in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Section A Baraboo, Sauk County, Wisconsin, and his wife Ida Ringling North was re-interned next to John Ringling, her brother, and his wife Mable, at the Ringling Ca' d'Zan Mansion in Sarasota, Florida. The Ringling Museum of Art a public museum..

Paternal Grandparents:
William North 1775-1848
Margaret Ann Whitestone 1780-?
